about

this album is called 'reunion tour' because of this inside joke (so inside, it almost exclusively included myself) about my solo projects, that took the form of an imaginary band, different parts of me playing different instruments. the original name of the 'band' was 'estropiados (maimed, in portuguese) big band'. the title of the album is itself a joke inside this other joke, that the band is back together and out of ideas (though hopefully not this last part).

the album consists of remixed and remastered versions of tracks from the 'metropolis' - 'antifragility' period, because I convinced myself that I had gotten really good at mixing and mastering, to the point where you actually can hear the improvement in texture - and therefore, or at least you would expect so, in enjoyment. hopefully, the listener will feel the same way.

making music is a personal exercise. releasing that music is the opposite. this combination of opposites is a form of growing up in public and this album is the musical equivalent of looking at old photo albums in a new light, seen through the eyes of the future, enhanced by experience. but mostly by compressors and equalizers.

I arrived at Mark Wingfield through the drumming of Asaf Sirkis. I got this to get a taster of his playing in other settings and it's compelling listening. There's a range of music but all combines the best of jazz and progressive rock - freedom of expression and arrangements that understand musical form yet aren't bound by it. Four Moons is a wonderful example of this. But all the tracks - with or without drums - show imagination and emotion. Peter Jones
